Verizon Wireless has partnered with a company called GoKnow (www.goknow.com) to provide 1:1 for K-12 students. Handheld computers will make a real difference in K-12 classrooms. With 1:1 computing - each child having his/her own personal, handheld, mobile computer - children will use their handhelds for essentially 100% of the classroom's teaching and learning activities. Educationally appropriate software, curriculum and professional development is key in bringing that vision to reality.

DonnaP 21st century classroom 1 Aug 13 2008, 12:28 AM EDT by DonnaP

With the beginning of school rapidly approaching, I was wondering what advice we could give one another concerning steps we can take in our classroom to work towards the model of a 21st century classroom?

My idea would be to develop a Problem Based Learning Unit for the students to begin working on in September, in order to actively engage the students in their own learning.

What other ideas would anyone share?
